BUSTING THE MYTHS: Myth #1 You can’t mix natives and exotics

There is common a misperception that you can’t mix native and exotic plants in the same garden. The result is usually either the complete exclusion of one or the other in a landscape or they get shoved into a corner somewhere segregated from the rest of the garden.

With thoughtful design and plant selection, native and exotic plants can both share a place in our landscapes. By including local flora colour and interest is maintained all year around along with enhancing habitat for our wonderful and diverse birdlife.

It is a myth that Australian native plants can not be pruned, fertilised or mixed with exotic plants. Maintenance requirements are determined by individual species rather than place of origin.
